SKOY Story
Their story is quite simple really; In 2007 Michelle and Karen had a desire to share a cloth that is better than any cloth they have ever used. The bonus being that it is environmentally friendly! They started to do a little research and were shocked to see how people were cleaning their kitchens. They were even more shocked to find out how many tons of paper towels were being used annually (approx. 2.5 million tons) and overloading the landfills. They decided to do something about it.
SKOY Green
Their factory is aware of the responsibility for handling its resources carefully. They use renewable raw materials such as cellulose (derived from wood), and cotton to produce their Skoy cloths. Their factory has invested heavily in developing and implementing an integrated environmental recycling and disposal facility in which the economical use of energy and water is first and foremost. Production by-products are purified and recycled as far as possible within the process. Regeneration baths are returned to production by an evaporation process. Wastewater is treated at the site's biological wastewater purification plants.
This environmental concept is at the vanguard of operations-related environmental policy and has resulted in their factory becoming a reference company throughout the industry.
They were concerned for the Carbon footprint this product would leave - being that it was made in Germany. To their relief, the carbon footprint is so minimal due to the weight and size of the product (independent consultant verification).
